Medi-Spa

Short for medical spa, medi-spas offer a wide range of cosmetic treatments in a spa-like setting. Procedures offered at medi-spas often include:
  • chemical peels
  • microdermabrasion
  • Botox
  • laser treatments and light treatments (such as photodynamic therapy)
Medi-spas differ from traditional day spas, because they operate under the supervision of a doctor, although the doctor doesn't always perform every treatment. In some cases, the doctor may not even be on the premises. Regulations for medi-spas vary from state to state.
Some medi-spas specialize in one area, such as acne and acne scar treatments or plastic surgery support. Although the ambiance is much more clinical than your traditional day spas, many people also enjoy getting traditional facial treatments, waxing and massage at their medi-spa.
